Our Leadership

Great leadership is key to any Church or organisation. It creates momentum and helps keep people’s feet lined up behind the dream.

Ultimately, The Forge Community Church is led by Jesus Christ. He is the head of the Church. However, from an earthly perspective The Forge is led by five teams of people

The Elders Team

The Elders provide the general oversight and ultimate spiritual authority at The Forge – the buck stops here!  They ask the question: What is God saying? We currently have six Elders:  Gill Fenning (chair of elders), Steve Urwin, Jon Herman, Shirley Humphrey, Colin Tapscott, Oliver Westmancott and Steve Fenning (Senior Leader)

The Staff  Leaders Team

The Staff Leaders are tasked by the Elders team to provide vision, direction and be responsible for the day-to-day running of Church. They ask the question: How do we get the job done?  We currently have six full time members of staff:  Steve Fenning, Duncan Banks, Matt Levett, Sam Walker, Becky Green & Emily Hannah.

The Trustees Team

This team providing the legal and financial oversight for the business side of church. There are currently six members: Shirley Humphrey (chair of trustees), Paul Taylor, Sarah Dobson, Michael Watts, Alan Pratt, Gill Fenning.

The Small Group Leaders

Small Groups play a vital role in building community at The Forge.  Each of these groups require leadership and this is predominantly provided by through our volunteer Small Group Leaders who lead around twenty small groups.

The Serving Team Leaders

The Forge could not function without many volunteers giving their time and energy to the various serving roles.  Each role requires leadership and our Serving Team Leaders (mostly volunteers themselves) provide this for the twenty or more different serving teams.
