The Forge is dedicated to creating exciting ways that people can get involved locally; we want to give opportunities for people to really make a difference.
We are aware that for far too long, the church has been known for what it is against… We want to be known for what we are FOR. We are #FORDebenham, #FORThurston and #FOREye.
Our heart is to work in collaboration with other volunteers and professionals, drawing alongside others in the community and offer practical support to our neighbours. We want to target areas of need in Suffolk and look to improve and update homes and spaces. We want to be known, involved and helpful to our locality. We want to get alongside other businesses, organisations, groups, families and individuals to support them in their need.
Our open invitation is for anyone who wants to roll their sleeves up. If you can paint a fence, clear weeds, hand out drinks, clear litter, hang a shelf etc, we need you! Why not sign the whole family up for a morning/afternoon?
Why not get involved in our local community days this year?
Other ways we care:
The Furniture bank is responsible for countless stories of transformation. This amazing team can turn a house into a home! It’s not just distribution, this team also collects, restores, and tests furniture/furnishings.
This amazing team spend time and build community with the elderly; driving, cooking, waiting & washing up. This club meets every other Wednesday at the United Reformed Church in Debenham.
We have a team of talented volunteers who can put up a shelf, paint a wall or fix a fence. This support is available to complete practical jobs in homes for those who are unable to do this themselves.
We are able to offer small, one off gifts to those in hardship situations. We work in partnership with local professionals to identify specific needs in our local area and offer some assistance to those in need.
We are always delighted to be involved in schools work in the local area. If required, we have several specialist staff and volunteers that are able to get involved in assemblies or lessons.
